Pendant Lamp

Modern pendant lamps are a source of light and an attractive decorative element in the interior. They attract attention, give the room a character. Too many different lamps in the field of view is a design flaw.

Lighting complements the interior design and gives the room the right atmosphere. Hanging lamps are most often the main lighting for a living room or other room. Suspended high from the ceiling, they provide light reaching even the farthest corners of the interior. It is possible to distinguish the different functions of individual parts of the room in large open spaces by using various hanging lamps. The pendant lamp will be the primary light source, and additional lighting can be wall lamps or table lamps. Hanging lamps lowered low in a specific location will produce a spotlight.

1. Hanging lamps: interior decoration

No matter how they are used, hanging lamps always decorate the interior. They can be subdued, stylistically indifferent, inconspicuous. It is very nice when they complement a well-thought-out interior styling. Considering the vast range of pendant lamps, this can be done quickly. An impressive, decorative, designer pendant lamp can be the focal point of an interior arrangement. It doesn’t have to match the residue at all. It can be juxtaposed as a counterpoint – an explosion of form or colour in a calm interior.

3. Hanging lamps: how many points of light

Hanging lamps have one or more light sources. They are usually placed centrally in the room. One lamp is enough in a small space. In a large living room, you can use several single hanging lamps located at the vertices of a triangle or a quadrangle. Bar-shaped pendant lamps with multiple light points that can illuminate a more prominent space are popular.

In an ample open space, two of the same lamps can be used but different in size. The larger one will be the primary light source; the smaller one can illuminate a dining room or a kitchen island. Hanging lamps can also be combined with other lamps from the same collection – with the same finish but different in shape and size. A pendant lamp in combination with stylistically matching ceiling luminaires looks nice.

4. Optical change of the interior

Thanks to the lighting, we can optically enlarge or reduce the room. If the light of the ceiling light is directed towards the ceiling, the room will appear larger. Controlling the light downwards reduces the room. If this is how the pendant lamp will be hung above the dining room table or a seating corner, we will create an atmosphere of privacy and cosiness there.

5. Which pendant lamp to choose

The choice of hanging lamps is enormous. So you can easily match the light to the interior. Sometimes it is just the opposite – the choice is so great that it is challenging to decide. Pendant lamps are made of glass, metal, ceramics, wood, paper, fabrics or wicker. They can be straightforward in form, even ascetic, e.g. as a simple metal beam without decorations. Many lamps have a ball, oval or cylindrical shape. This is a classic form that fits any room. The interiors of rustic check the light with the luminaire wooden or wicker. Currently, it is fashionable to use old or distressed wood in the form of a beam, from which lamps hang on thick ropes. In a house decorated in a boho, style you can use light lamps with a frame made of openwork fabric with hanging fringes or use airy, lace fabric thrown over the edge as a lampshade. Lamps in the form of glass luminaires suspended on a string will look good in minimalist interiors. We will also find glamour-style lamps, extremely decorative, with a sculpted physique. Their finish is sometimes gold or silver. Rainbow-coloured industrial lights can also be used in avant-garde interiors.

6. At what height to place the pendant lamp

It’s a good idea to choose hanging lamps that are adjustable in length. This allows the light to be hung at such a height that it illuminates the space that has been planned. In a large room, it can be hung high to inspire as much as possible.

There may be stairs within the living room. Then you can place a pendant lamp above or next to them at the height of the upper part of the run so that it illuminates it ultimately. In the living room lounge area, you can hang the lamp lower so that a climatically lit zone is created where you spend your free time. A similar procedure can be applied above the gaming table or in a corner with a comfortable chair for reading books and newspapers.

7. Hanging lamp above the dining room table

The height of the lamp suspension is essential, especially for a dining table. The lamp placed above it should illuminate its entire surface. It cannot be too low because it could be disturbing – during family feasts, we would not see the person sitting opposite. The lamp must not hang so that it would be knocked by people sitting at the table.

8. What is the light colour of the lamps for the living room, and what is above the table?

When selecting light sources, please pay attention to their temperature. A low colour temperature, up to 3300 K, is recommended for the living room, a warm colour that facilitates calmness and relaxation. On the other hand, over the table where children will do their homework and adults work, both require concentration, an excellent white colour (high colour temperature). We also expect a faithful presentation of colours from the table lighting. The served dishes will look even more appetizing. In the other lamps in the living room, bulbs with a 5.40 Usd value are sufficient.
