The precise laser cutting patterns in sheet metal, wood and other materials make beautiful and individual decorations. The handrail by the stairs, an openwork wall, or a decorative casing can have an original pattern that we want.
The use of laser cutting patterns in sheet metal, wood, plywood, plastics and other materials has created a new quality in construction, interior decoration, and space arrangement at home and the garden. Thanks to the CNC laser, you can cut very complex patterns in many materials. The quality of the cut and the precision of artistry are at a very high level. Moreover, there are no problems with repeating the pattern. Each subsequent element prepared according to a given design will be identical to the previous one.
Laser cutting of decorations from various materials also ensures the uniqueness of the pattern. Everyone can order a unique way to be cut, e.g. according to their photo, drawing or graphic design. Thanks to this, we can have decorations in our own home that no one else will have. Laser cutting of decorations allows you to meet your personal needs and imagination. Especially enthusiasts can take advantage of this. A lover of sailing can order fence spans with the silhouettes of sailing ships cut out under full sails, and a cat or dog lover – a fence with the shape of animals.
1. Where to use laser cut decorations
Laser cutting of sheet metal and other substances opened up nearly limitless options for creating beautiful features for our homes and gardens. Among the components made with the use of laser-cut details there are:
- stair railings,
- balcony railings,
- fencing spans,
- entrance gates,
- decorative panels for facades,
- interior panels for walls and ceilings,
- decorative screens, screens,
- door leaves, especially sliding ones,
- walls of garden gazebos,
- canopies and garden fences,
- grills and furnaces.
2. Advantages of laser cutting of patterns
Laser cutting is recognized as the most modern and accurate method of cutting various metal and non-metal materials. The laser beam is a high-energy cutting stream, thanks to which it very quickly cuts any shapes with high accuracy with maximum use of the material. The obtained edges are smooth and optimally clean. The laser is guided automatically using numerical control. The data of the designed pattern are entered into the computer. The machine will repeat it as many times as we ask it. Each laser cut element will be the same as the previous one.
3. In what materials can laser cut decorations
There are very few materials that cannot be cut with a laser. With its help, you can process such materials:
- stainless steel,
- alloy steels,
- aluminium, also anodized
- hardened and coated metals,
- solid wood,
- MDF and HDF board, plywood,
4. Limitations in laser cutting
The main limitation is the size of the working area of the machine that is used for cutting. We will find machines with an active area of approximately 100 x 100 or 150 x 300 cm, and those in which it is even more significant than 300 x 300 cm. If necessary, a large composition should be divided into smaller fragments and a precise connection should be planned.
The machines also have a maximum thickness indicated for each material that can be machined. In the case of sheets, it is 10-25 mm, depending on the type. In-home applications, when it comes to decorations, shouldn’t play a significant role.
It is worth remembering that the laser is uneven. Therefore, when choosing companies, you should consider the prices and qualifications of employees and the equipment. We will find companies with machines that allow cutting decorations in flat materials, pipes, and 3D profiles.
5. Production of laser cut decorations
The enormous possibilities and precision of laser cutting of decorations made this product very popular and available in many places. You can buy them ready-made in companies dealing in the sale of finishing materials, fences, stairs, etc. Each of them has its pattern and offers a lot of models to choose from.
If we want a unique solution, we will also find companies that laser-cut any patterns on request. They also offer their palette of compositions. You can also order decorations according to our design.
6. How to prepare a pattern design for laser cutting
Anyone can design a pattern to be cut. Still, it must be prepared in an appropriate form and format, following its recommendations to perform laser cutting. The project should be drawn in a vector graphics program, e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Auto CAD, Inkscape, etc.
The cutting lines must be made very precisely. Be aware that the actual thickness of the laser cut line is between 0.05 and about 0.1 mm. Crop lines should be created on a separate project layer. It is safest to mark all parameters and additional descriptions with a different colour or put them in an extra layer.
