Almost every summer resident strives to correctly identify a full-fledged recreation area on the site, make a convenient entrance and a playground for children. In most cases, zoning is not a whim but a necessity. It allows you to use space rationally and save energy.
Figure out how to delimit the area around a country house on our own and at the same time decorate the site.
The most apparent and harmonious option for dividing the site into zones. There are several ways to separate the beds from the playground and barbecue areas.
- Shrub flowers (dahlias, roses, peonies);
- Small shrubs (barberry, spirea, hawthorn);
- Deciduous and coniferous trees (thuja, yew).
Living fences allow you to shade part of the territory and hide unsightly places from prying eyes. The only difficulty is the need for constant care. So that the hedge does not lose its attractiveness, it is essential to monitor the growth of plants, cut the shoots in time and loosen the soil.
2. Retaining walls for multi-level zoning
The hills and lowlands on the site are often used to highlight functional areas. Above is a house and beds for light-loving plants, and below is a playground for sports and recreation. Retaining walls will help to arrange transitions.
The primary purpose of the retaining walls, as the name suggests, is to keep the soil from collapsing. Without them, it isn’t easy to make out the height difference between the terrace and the garden. Such structures do not block the visibility of the entire garden while harmoniously delineating the area around the reservoir or overgrown shrubs.
Metal mesh boxes filled with stone or brick have become classics of landscape design for a long time. Gabions are used for the construction of utility rooms, fountains, and decorative fences. Fence heights usually range from 60 cm to 2.5 meters. A simple way of attaching boxes allows you to experiment with the length and bends of the railing.
The arch is traditionally considered a decorative element of landscape design without pretending to be exceptionally functional. However, it attracts gardeners not only with its beauty. The arched vault never goes unnoticed. Therefore it does an excellent job of fencing the recreation area from the garden or entrance.
Wooden, plastic, forged arches entwined with greenery will adorn any site. At the same time, they do not need special care, such as, for example, for a hedge.
5. Tapestries and screens
Trellis trellises and garden screens, in addition to zoning and decorative functions, are considered the best support for plants. Buried in greenery, they create shade even on the hottest day and are perfect for framing a relaxation area.
6. Garden paths
The classics of the genre are winding garden paths. You can experiment with the material, the width, the density of the tracks. Bearings made of stone or decking fit perfectly into the garden space.
The approach to the house is made wide; the rest of the paths are slightly narrower. The network of trails should stretch across the entire site, allowing comfortable movement from one area to another.
7. Floral division into zones
Flower beds will help organize the garden space. Experiments with colors make it possible to visually adjust the size and proportions of the site and place accents when delimiting zones.
The children’s area can be highlighted with colorful plants, which are suitable for which yellow, red, and bright pink perennials. For the relaxation zone, it is better to choose something calmer.
8. Paving the territory with different materials
An interesting way of dividing an area is by using different coatings. Lawn, pebbles, tiles, wooden flooring do not visually conflict with each other and delineate the boundaries of each zone. Colored tiles are suitable for the play area, and pebbles can be used for the entrance area.
When equipping a suburban area, it is essential to make it as comfortable as possible. Competent planning allows you to use each meter effectively, and convenient and quick movement between all zones will save energy.
